Our School
Employment Encounters
Our school has its own “alumni” network which we use regularly to give our current students real-life examples of what our students go onto achieve after they leave us. There is an area on our website to celebrate this. All students within our school are given opportunity to sign up for inspirational talks from alumni that are now lawyers, social workers, civil servants and business owners for example.
We also have our own external enterprise advisor as we are part of the Enterprise advisor network and Sheffield Businesses Together. Through this work we plan to take groups of students to visit different work places. We host a wide range of employer visits in school such as architects, local government staff and caterers, for example.
We also have strong links with the NHS and host visits from a range of staff to demonstrate the wide range of career opportunities within the NHS.
Students in Y9 have the opportunity to take part in the “Better Learners, Better Workers” programme. This involves students visiting a range of workplaces in the construction, health care and engineering sectors, as well as developing their own employability skills through attending “Skills Matters” days.
